‘Phoenix of Gaza’ VR project brings memories of Gaza to Tokyo

Phoenix of Gaza XR, the virtual reality project documenting everyday life, culture and memory in Gaza created by Ahlam Muhtaseb, a professor of media studies at California State University, San Bernardino, and co-founder and academic director of Phoenix of Gaza XR, together with artist and journalist Naim Aburaddi, was presented in Tokyo recently, allowing visitors to experience streets, schools, places of worship, markets and other locations through immersive 360-degree footage.

Sishi Wu (criminal justice) was part of a team of researchers who published a study that considered how “(s)ocial support theory contends that support is the key to crime, yet few studies trace how perceived help evolves across the life course or differs by social location. This study advances the core dimensions of Cullen’s (1994) thesis through an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design using the Roads to Desistance (ROADS) dataset.”
