The California Faculty Association and the Faculty Senate at California State University, San Bernardino will host Learning to Resist, a thought-provoking campus event examining the state of public education and emerging forms of student-led advocacy.

The event will take place Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Santos Manuel Student Union South Theater. The event is free and open to the public.

Moderated by Jordan Fullam, professor of education and chair of the Faculty Senate, the discussion will bring together campus and community voices committed to equity and justice in education.

Speakers include Ahlam Muhtaseb, professor of communication and media studies and representative on the CFA Council for Racial and Social Justice; Jocelyn Paz, student leader and activist and vice chair of the Santos Manuel Student Union; and Wil Greer, director of Equity & Targeted Student Achievement for the San Bernardino City Unified School District.

The evening will focus on urgent issues facing schools and universities nationwide, including academic freedom, student rights, identity-based discrimination, increasing censorship in classrooms and on campuses, and the broader challenges of rising authoritarianism.

Speakers will also highlight acts of hope and resistance — such as student activism, community organizing, transformative teaching practices, and continued commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion.
