Aimee Vaquera, M.S.
Confidential Aide to the Vice President
Aimee Vaquera is a Latina, daughter of immigrants, first-generation student and professional. Aimee began her higher education journey at Long Beach City College (LBCC) where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Her transfer journey took her to California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) where she earned both her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration and Master of Science in College Counseling. During her undergraduate career, Aimee was on the Executive Board for ENF-Immigrant Student Alliance and Co-Chair of the Undocumented Student Ally Coalition (USAC), which supported and promoted college access for undocumented students and mixed-status families. She additionally played an integral role in establishing a Dream Center to CSUDH and launching CSUDH’s first transfer first-year experience program - Dominguez Hills, Transfer Learning Community (DHTLC). During her graduate studies, Aimee returned to her community college roots and lent her expertise to support the establishment of LBCC’s Undocumented Student Ally Network and became an Adjunct Counselor for LBCC.
Aimee has held various roles around academic advising/counseling, student leadership, mentorship and teaching. She joined the Coyote family in April 2021 and hopes to continue her path in advocating for student success, equity and access and utilizing her platform and experience to support students navigate system inequities and institutional red tape. She believes in leading with a social justice lens and that maintaining her integrity is the key to truly living life authentically. She continues her education at California State University, Long Beach where she is working on completing an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership in hopes of further providing guidance and access to education for those who wish to embark the journey.
Michael Corona, B.A.
Desktop Publishing/Graphic Specialist
Michael Corona has worked at CSUSB since 2021 as the Desktop Publishing/Graphic Specialist to the Vice President’s Office of Student Affairs. He is a CSUSB alumnus who graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design.
Marketing and Communications Specialist
Miesha Zumazuma joined the Coyote family in 2017 as the Marketing and Communications Specialist. She discovered her passion for higher education public relations while working in the Office of Public Affairs at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. During her career, she has worked in a variety of journalism, marketing, and public relations roles. Most recently serving as the managing editor at the National Hot Rod Association, where she supervised the editorial staff and coordinated the production of its bi-weekly magazine.
Miesha earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in journalism from Cal Poly Pomona. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Professional Communications from California State University, Fullerton.
Ashley earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration at California State Polytechnic University and her Master of Arts in educational administration from California State University, Northridge. Ashley most recently served as the Events Coordinator for Development and Institute Relations at Caltech. Ashley has also held roles at CSU Northridge and University of Southern California. Her extensive experience in higher education includes committee support, collaborating across departments, coordination and execution of university commencement ceremonies, supporting the orientation of first year and transfer students, financial management, and working with university campus police and public safety. Ashley’s passions include anticipating needs, organizational management, and planning.
Assistant to the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Educational Equity
Kantaralia Rodriguez is the Assistant to the Associate Vice President for Student Success & Educational Equity. Kantaralia joined the CSUSB family in June 2021. Kantaralia has over 10 years of experience working in higher education. Kantaralia earned two bachelor's degrees from CSUSB in Management and Information Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Redlands.
Senior Budget Analyst
Mary-Christine Ulatan-Robles has served the CSUSB community as a professional staff member since 2007. Currently, Ulatan-Robles is serving as the Division of Student Affairs budget officer and human resources liaison, since December 2018. Mary has oversight of all fiscal and personnel matters for the division, and is an active member within the campus community, having served in various capacities on a variety of committees.
Ulatan-Robles is a double CSUSB alumna, receiving both her bachelor of science degree in Nutrition and Food Science and a master of arts degree in Public Administration. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Administration degree from California Baptist University, with research interests in government accountability and performance, public organizations and public policy, and higher education.
Assessment and Research Officer
Jennifer Mersman is the Assessment & Research Officer for the Division of Student Affairs at CSUSB. Her role is building assessment capability within Student Affairs and across university divisions to enhance continuous improvement. Jennifer consults and collaborates with departments to design assessment methodologies for evidence-based planning, programmatic change, and organizational development, and provides leadership across campus assessment committees (A-Team, CLASS, Coyote Connections Assessment Group, Assessment Capability Collaborative). Jennifer is an alumna from CSUSB, receiving her M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from Claremont Graduate University.
Before coming to CSUSB, Jennifer worked in education management, weaving assessment and development into whole systems change in service of learner success. She has worked as an evaluation consultant over the last two decades, working with multiple stakeholder groups within the public, non-profit, and private sectors.
