The need for a youth weight management program comes as 40% of children in the San Bernardino County have obesity or are overweight. As part of the Youth Weight Management Program, an online survey has been launched to determine adolescents’ and their caregivers’ needs.

The third annual Run Like a Mother 5K run/walk will be held at CSUSB on Saturday, Nov. 2, with the proceeds benefitting homeless women and children.
The 5K will raise money and awareness for the Time for Change and Soul Food for Your Baby. Both are local nonprofit community organizations dedicated to improving the lives of women and children.
Carolina Gabaldon overcame many challenges. Despite all she’s been through, the CSUSB graduate student in public health persevered, and is a recipient of the 2017-2018 CSU Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement.
CSUSB will host a grand opening ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 27, for the newly created Faculty Center for Excellence. The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. in the John M. Pfau Library, PL-4005.

Rivera, who died Oct. 1 in the Las Vegas mass shooting, was president of the CSUSB Eta Sigma Gamma chapter and was heavily involved in planning the race, said chapter faculty adviser Angie Denisse Verissimo.
More than 200 people ran or walked in the second annual Run Like A Mother 5K at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Oct. 21, which this year was held in memory of slain student Jordyn Rivera.
