With proceeds going to the Time for Change Foundation and ultimately benefitting homeless women and children, the third annual Run Like a Mother 5K will be held at Cal State San Bernardino om Saturday, Nov. 2.

The run/walk fundraiser is hosted by CSUSB’s Eta Sigma Gamma National Health Education Honorary Society and students of Health Science 404: Women’s Health and held in memory of Jordyn Rivera, a CSUSB student who was killed in the mass shooting in Las Vegas in October 2017. At the time, Rivera was heavily involved in planning the race and students in the society decided to dedicate the event in her memory.

“The Run Like a Mother 5K was created to bring our communities together to focus on the issues affecting them and celebrate those community organizations that address those concerns,” said Nicole Henley, faculty coordinator of the 5K and CSUSB assistant professor in the health science and human ecology department. “The 5K is also a great example of the hard work and collaboration of our various student groups who work incredibly hard to plan and implement this event.”

Check in for the race is at 8 a.m. with the start of the race at 9 a.m. The race entry is $10 for students and $15 for all others.

Registration can be done online at the 3rd Annual CSUSB Run Like A Mother 5K Run/Walk Eventbrite page.

Cal State San Bernardino Recreation & Wellness will be hosting a canned food drive for the Obershaw DEN food pantry.
