
Greg Gondwe (communication and media) and Alicia Gutierrez-Romine (history) were interviewed by news media; James Fenelon (sociology), Anahid S. Modreka (psychology) and Andrea Giuffre (criminal justice) published research in their respective disciplines; and Rosario Rizzo Lara (sociology) published a book she co-authored.

CSUSB’s Office of Student Research, in collaboration with the Extended Reality for Learning (xREAL) Lab, has awarded twelve graduate students the Innovative Media and Technology Graduate Research Award to support research in immersive and emerging technologies.

Mike Stull (entrepreneurship) and Anthony Metcalf (biology, emeritus) were mentioned in recent news coverage, and Leslie R. Amodeo and a team of researchers (psychology) and Hector Baños (mathematics) published papers in academic journals in their respective fields.

Vicky Lopez, a first-generation CSUSB student with a background in firefighting, is using their engineering skills to develop innovative technologies that improve wildfire response. With support from CSUSB faculty, including Fadi Muheidat, associate professor of computer science, they have earned prestigious internships and awards, and now lookahead to pursuing a graduate degree.

CSUSB student Maurice Cruz is the recipient of the 2025 National Undergraduate Scholar Award from the American Kinesiology Association. This prestigious award honors exceptional academic achievement, leadership and a commitment to advancing the field of kinesiology and related disciplines.

Josue Martinez, a senior biology major, is not only driven by his curiosity about the world around him, but also his desire for improvement, love of research and the freedom of testing new ideas, two of his professors say.

CSUSB student Luis Trujillo was one of only six formerly incarcerated students nationwide selected to participate in a prestigious research residency at Yale University. Trujillo’s story highlights the transformative power of higher education, re-entry support programs, and mentorship in students’ lives.

CSUSB students earned top awards at the 39th annual California State University (CSU) Student Research Competition held recently at Cal Poly Humboldt. Fourteen CSUSB students were selected to compete in the prestigious event, which showcases top student research from across the 23 CSU campuses.

CSUSB will host the inaugural California Semiconductor Workforce Innovation for Tomorrow Symposium (CalSWIFT ’25) on April 11. The event will bring together students, faculty and industry professionals to discuss the research, innovation and workforce development within the semiconductor and emerging technology sectors.
