At California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), we believe that recognizing the efforts and achievements of our staff and faculty is a vital component of fostering a thriving and engaged workplace. Created during our 2024- 2025 academic year, our recognition programs are designed to celebrate individuals and teams whose contributions exemplify excellence, commitment, and impact within our campus community. The President's DEI Board honors outstanding performance and significant accomplishments through the following two staff award categories:
- Excellence in DEI Faculty Award
- Recognizes a faculty member who has made meaningful contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at CSUSB.
- Excellence in DEI Staff Award
- Recognizes a staff member who has made meaningful contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at CSUSB.
These awards provide both visible and meaningful acknowledgment of those who help make CSUSB a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-moving institution.
Excellence in DEI Faculty Award
The Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Faculty Impact Award recognizes and honors outstanding faculty who demonstrate a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research/creative activities, programming, service, and or community outreach. We believe that faculty deserve to receive recognition for their contributions to the university and community.
This award is being supported by the President’s DEI Board and will recognize a faculty member who demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through practical action. Recipients may demonstrate this commitment across a range of possibilities: student-centered inclusion initiatives; efforts to support diverse faculty and/or students; teaching and/or research that expands and embraces our understanding of inclusiveness; multicultural programming or related initiatives; and community outreach activities.
Eligibility requirements for nominees:
- Nominees must be tenure-line faculty or full or part-time lecturers with a minimum of three years of consecutive CSUSB service.
As the recipient of the DEI Staff Impact Award, you will receive $1,500 in professional development funds and a recognition plaque, which will be presented by the University President during the annual Fall Convocation on August 21, 2025.
Excellence in DEI Staff Award
The Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Staff Impact Award recognizes and honors outstanding staff who demonstrate a commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion within our campus community through programming, service and community outreach. Criteria for selection may include a broad range of activities from inclusion-centered initiatives; efforts to support recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, staff and/or students; multicultural programming; community outreach; and other activities that enhance diversity and inclusion.
Eligibility requirements for nominees:
- Achieve permanent status with the University in a non-MPP state position or be a regular non-MPP employee of the University Enterprise Corporation (UEC), Associated Students or Student Union as of 12/31 of the previous year.
- Employee much have completed at least one year of service at CSUSB by 12/31 of the previous year for which they are being nominated.
- Must be a staff employee; MPP employees and faculty members are not eligible.
How to Nominate:
- Any CSUSB employee may submit a nomination by completing the nomination form below. The nomination period is Monday, June 9, 2025 - Monday, June 30, 2025.

Notes and Helpful Hints:
The Nomination Review Committee consists of representatives from each division who evaluate all submissions that meet the award criteria. Nominations are assessed based on substantive and specific examples that support the various criteria. Please remember that the Nomination Review Committee may not be familiar with the individual’s or team’s achievements, so it is important to be as comprehensive as possible. The only information the Committee relies upon is what is provided on the nomination form. It is the responsibility of the nominator(s) to ensure that all participating team members who should be recognized are included in the nomination.
