Power to the San Bernardino campus has been restored as of 9:55 a.m. Normal campus operations will resume Friday, July 26th. Essential staff with questions on whether to report should contact their appropriate administrator. Facilities Management will be working to check all building systems including HVAC, elevators and fire alarms. If power has not been restored in your work area when you return, please report that to Facilities Planning and Management at (909) 537-5175. The Palm Desert Campus remains open and operational.

Patrol

University Police Patrol Division

The University Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the campus. The Patrol Division includes bike patrol officers and a bomb detection trained K9.  The campus is patrolled 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Patrol Division operates utilizing four patrol teams, each supervised by a Sergeant.  The patrol teams are responsible for a wide variety of functions, including responding to all 911 calls for services, alarms, medical emergencies or public assists, as well as  supporting large campus events.

Authority

The CSUSB Police Department is empowered pursuant to section 830.2 (c) of the California Penal Code and fully subscribes to the standards of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). They receive the same basic training as city and county peace officers throughout the state, plus additional training to meet the unique needs of a campus environment. CSUSB Police Officers have peace officer authority anywhere in the State of California with primary jurisdiction and law enforcement duties on the campus of CSUSB.  The Department handles all patrol, investigation, crime prevention education, and related law enforcement duties for the campus community. The CSUSB Police Department works closely with the City of San Bernardino Police Department, the San Bernardino City Unified School District Police Department, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
