About Us

The CSUSB Police Department and Transportation and Parking Services is a state law enforcement agency which employs 18 sworn police officers and an active support staff for 24-hour protection of the campus community. The department is responsible for the 471-acre north San Bernardino campus with its 20,000 students, faculty and staff and also for the surrounding area. Including the campus and outlying residential, canyon and foothills. The CSUSB Police Department serves an area of 480-acres and 2.5 square miles. The peace officers of this department have statewide police authority, and are vested with law enforcement powers and responsibilities, identical to the municipal police or sheriff's departments in our community. The CSUSB Police Department was established in Jan. 23, 1974 and strives to provide "Quality Service" by providing professional service with honor, integrity, and a commitment to excellence to the community. This department seeks to perform its mission through diligent crime prevention, victim assistance, disaster preparedness, and problem-oriented policing. We also strive to provide effective and efficient parking and transportation services that maximize value and maintain sustainability while providing prompt and professional services to the campus community.

The CSUSB Police Department along with its 24-hour patrol deploys a Motor Officer for Traffic Enforcement. A substation located within the university housing enhances the safety of university residents, with officers assigned specifically to the residential community on the campus. The University Police Department has an active Chaplain program, with Chaplains who often ride with our officers. Campus community members can become involved with enhancing safety and fighting crime at the University by becoming a member of the Police Department Volunteers. If anyone has any questions in reference to the CSUSB Police Department feel free to call us at (909) 537-5165 or e-mail us.
