From research mentorship and grant planning to responsible research practices and career development, CSUSB faculty, staff and students can participate in the fall 2026 series of virtual workshops offered by the Office of Academic Research (OAR) and Office of Student Research and Innovation (OSRI).
The coordinated series is designed for faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, principal investigators, research personnel and faculty mentors across all academic disciplines and levels of research experience.
Through its workshops, the Office of Academic Research will provide practical guidance on mentoring student researchers, faculty intramural grants, faculty-student research collaboration, open-access publishing, and communication with funding-agency program officers. Additional topics include sponsored-research proposal planning and budgeting, grant award administration, research security, responsible conduct of research, and Institutional Review Board basics.
The Office of Student Research and Innovation will offer workshops focused on helping students participate in and navigate the research process. Topics include getting involved in research at CSUSB, finding a faculty mentor, project management as a career path, scholarly journal articles, advanced Google searching, Zotero and the use of artificial intelligence in the research process.
Dates and times for several workshops are still being finalized and will be posted on the OAR and OSRI webpages as they become available. Participants can visit the webpages for updated information, workshop descriptions and registration links.
All workshops will be offered through Zoom, making them accessible to participants at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses. The series advances CSUSB’s commitment to research excellence, student success, ethical research practices, professional development and meaningful faculty-student collaboration. Additionally, it reflects the Office of Student Research and Innovation’s mission to facilitate the research and creative activities of CSUSB undergraduate and graduate students through programs, activities and funding opportunities.
