Workshops focusing on available technology services to help Cal State San Bernardino Hispanic students and others will be offered on Thursday, Oct. 10, as part of the university’s Hispanic Heritage Month series of events.
 
The Hispanic Education Technology Consortium Workshops, which are designed for university staff and student assistants, will be held in the John M. Pfau Library, Room 5005, and are offered by CSUSB’s Information and Technology Services (ITS), the Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS) and is part of Tech Fest, a four-day event (Oct. 8-11) for students, faculty and staff to learn about services offered by ITS.
 
Registration and a continental breakfast will be from 8:30-9 a.m. 
 
The first workshop, “HETS services to students,” from 9-10:30 a.m., will focus on Hispanic Educational Technology Services available to students.
 
The workshop subjects are: overview of HETS, student placita, scholarships, resources for graduate school, preparation for graduate exams, internships and jobs search, templates for resumes and cover letters, and interview simulation experience.
 
The second workshop, “Professional Development resources for staff,” will be from 10:45-11:30 a.m.  Workshop #2 subjects are: Hispanic Educational Research Journal, fellowships, professional development webinars and best practices showcases.
 
Lunch will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The CSUSB Hispanic Educational Technology Resources (HETS) Virtual Plaza offers CSUSB students free access to over 300 online practice exams. In addition, CSUSB students can explore careers, scholarships, internships and financial aid opportunities.
 
HETS also provides the Faculty Placita, designed for faculty and administrators that includes professional development workshops, Hispanic educational research, fellowship information and more.
