Part 1: Major goals of the program

This component assesses whether we have effectively addressed the major goals of the program. This component lists the four major goals of the program and the corresponding questions and responses (number of student responses for each choice; percentage of responses for each choice) from the evaluation. Goal 1 and 2 are grouped together given the actual questions on the evaluation.

NINTH COHORT:

Goal 1: Students will have a clear and coherent vision of their educational aims and philosophies, and be able to articulate this vision in terms of their assumptions, theoretical framework and practice.

Goal 2: Students will be able to creatively integrate their vision of education with the reality of their professional context, including their instructional processes and practices.

Goal 3: Students will understand the nature and processes of collaboration, and be able to implement them in professional settings, including using collaborative processes to further innovative practice and professional growth.

Goal 4: The core courses in the program will be taught in a manner consistent with the pedagogy implied by the content of the courses.

  • The overall goal of the MA program in Holistic and Integrative Education was to help you define your vision of education and how to implement that vision in your professional situation.   • In addition to helping you clarify your vision of education, we hope the program was transformative; that is, that the program not only facilitated minor changes in your teaching, but also facilitated a transformation in your overall view of teaching, resulting in a significant change in the way you view teaching.   • One goal of the program was: "Students will understand the nature and processes of collaboration, and be able to implement those processes in professional settings, including using collaborative processes to further innovative practice and professional growth." Some of the activities related to this goal included your work in smaller cohort groups, collaboration with a colleague in your professional setting, and preparing a presentation for the mini-conference. Were these activities and other related activities effective in helping you "understand the nature and processes of collaboration . . . ." Explain.
