New Career Center Director says her vision for the center has a first-generation student focus that includes working on confidence-building and career readiness.
The American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ MLI is a premier leadership development program that provides individuals traditionally underrepresented in the highest ranks of postsecondary education with the opportunity to develop skills, gain a philosophical overview, and build the network and knowledge needed to advance to the presidency.
The university is getting a head start on the annual celebration of its Asian, Pacific Islander and South Asian communities. Nationally, Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month is celebrated during the month of May, but because the university has a short month in May with finals, CSUSB starts its celebration in April.
Robert Levi Jr., the university’s first Elder/Culture Bearer In-Residence, will serve as a mentor to American Indian students to develop and enhance positive native cultural identities.
“Inside/Out: Prison Education Showcase,” is the fourth and final program in The Justice Impacted Students Training Series, and will be presented at noon on Thursday, Nov. 18 on Zoom.
“The Impact of Education and Community Support: Successful Reentry Stories,” set for noon Thursday, Nov. 4, is the third program in The Justice Impacted Students Training Series, which began Sept. 30. Paloma Villegas (sociology) was featured in a review of the anthology, “Asylum for Sale: Profit and Protest in the Migration Industry,” and Annika Anderson (sociology) and Alexandra Cavallaro (English) discussed the Justice Impacted Students Training Series.
