Roderick Figgs, assistant director of GEAR UP at Cal State San Bernardino, has been named the 2019 Professional of the Year by the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP).
CSUSB’s Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math have been awarded $4,023,440 in federal funding for their programs to help students in San Bernardino and Rialto graduate from high school, and enroll and graduate from college.
GEAR UP is part of an effort to make students, and their parents, aware of the opportunities available to them to attend college, and what the students need to do so that they can determine their own future.
The Child Care Access Means Parents in School grant for CSUSB’s Children’s Center and the Infant and Toddler Lab School will provide funding over the next four years to help low-income student parents.

Now in its 11th year, the Forbes ranking lists the top 660 colleges and universities in the country, measuring the top 20 percent of all U.S. undergraduate institutions.
CSUSB continues to be among the top universities in the country in awarding degrees to Hispanics and total Hispanic student population, according to data compiled by the U.S. Department of Education and listed by Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education.
Forbes scored CSUSB and other universities in six areas: quality, net prices, net debt, alumni earnings, timely graduations and access for low-income students.
