
Jane Davidson’s talk aims to highlight the importance in the diversity and inclusion of intellectual thought and contribution to the practice of assessment across all levels of the university.

The team of 18 students, representing diverse academic and personal backgrounds, earned the Outstanding Delegation Award, the highest honor given by the National Model United Nations Conference. They represented the country of Cameroon in the annual conference held April 2-8 in New York City.

Villaseñor, who is known for his bestselling book, “Rain of Gold,” will speak at an in-person event that also will be available virtually.

The university’s Research Week shines the spotlight on the research and scholarly achievements of faculty and students across campus in all disciplines. Along with the Meeting of the Minds Student Research Symposium on April 14, other programs are scheduled during the week to showcase research at CSUSB.

Keith Brockie (adjunct, art) is the 2022 California League of Schools’ State High School Educator of the Year, Daniel MacDonald (economics) discusses the rise in mortgage interest rates, Brian Levin (criminal justice) comments on a sentencing in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, and Darren Goodman (adjunct, criminal justice) is named chief of the San Bernardino Police Department.

Faculty and staff have the opportunity to give back to any fund, department or scholarship of their choice. The 2022 Faculty-Staff Giving campaign runs through May 2.

Erik Melchiorre will receive a $2,000 faculty development grant and be honored at the College of Natural Sciences Spring Commencement and at the annual faculty luncheon.

CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales gave a speech at the Santos Manuel Student Union North grand opening; Brian Levin (criminal justice) discussed why the Aryan Nations Knights chose Arizona and commented on the increase of anti-Russian attacks; and Agustin Ramirez (VSC) commented on CSUSB being named a Military Friendly School.

Melanie Asalde-Smith will present her Master of Fine Art thesis exhibit titled FUTURE PROOF at the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art from April 14 to April 20. An opening reception will be held April 14.

The Golden Apple Award nominating committee said that one can easily feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Professor Michael Stull’s teaching contributions.

The presentation by Shou Wang of Cal State Stanislaus is set for Wednesday, April 13, and is part of CSUSB’s Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month. It is the second in the lecture series this week; the first talk by Hangping Xu of UC Santa Barbara took place on April 11.

Daniel MacDonald (economics) discussed the gender wage gap, Darren Goodman (criminal justice) was named the first Black police chief in San Bernardino, and Nasrin Mohabbati (logistics and supply chain management) is focused on transforming the future of logistics and manufacturing in the Inland Empire.
