CSUSB hosted a check presentation ceremony celebrating a $60,000 donation from Stater Bros. Charities to the Obershaw DEN food pantry. The gift will expand the quantity and variety of groceries available to students and enhance access to nutritious food and personal hygiene items at the San Bernardino campus. It will also strengthen the Athletics Fueling Pantry by providing high-protein, refueling options for student-athletes.
The event brought together members of the campus community and Stater Bros. Charities executives, staff and supporting vendor partners. The afternoon began with a meet-and-greet, followed by remarks from Nancy Negrette, vice president of Corporate Affairs and chairman and president of Stater Bros. Charities, and Paz Olivérez, CSUSB’s vice president for Student Affairs.
The program, held on May 7, concluded with a ceremonial check presentation and a tour of the Obershaw DEN, housed within the university’s Basic Needs and Student Support department, offering guests an inside look at how the space provides essential resources and food for students.
Through continued collaboration with partners like Stater Bros. Charities, CSUSB is strengthening its support network to help ensure students have access to the food, supplies and support they need to succeed.
Stater Bros. Charities is a community-funded nonprofit and the charitable arm of Stater Bros. Markets, supporting grants and fundraising efforts focused on hunger relief, children’s well-being, education, health, care for veterans, active service members and first responders, and pet well-being.
