The 2025 Student ShowCASE took place on Nov. 20 at the Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus, drawing more than 150 attendees in celebration of student research, creativity and scholarship.
Sixty-seven students from diverse disciplines presented 26 project presentations showcasing their creative activities, scholarly works and research. Faculty jurors evaluated each presentation and selected top winners for excellence in research and presentation.
Award Winners:

Best Oral Presentation: Johar Ali Shaik: “A Data-Driven Analysis of Weather Effects on Usage Patterns in Bike Sharing Systems”, supervised by faculty mentor Nima Molavi, supply chain management

Best Poster Presentation: Dylan Diaz and Jonathan Martinez: “Testing the Relationship Between Working Memory and Fluid Reasoning via Network Analysis”, supervised by faculty mentor Jason Reimer, psychology
Two-way tie for 1st Runner-Up for Best Poster Presentation:

Mia Strathdee, Jenifer Cardenas and Shawnanada Parker: “Preventing Failure to Rescue Through Clinical Judgment in New Nurses”, supervised by faculty mentor Justin Schneider, nursing

Mia Jones, Maribel Lepiz, Arjelyn Lovelle Cara and Sandy Estaphanous: “The Effects of Preceptorship on Pre-Licensure Nursing Students’ Readiness for Practice: A Literature Review”, supervised by faculty mentor Justin Schneider, nursing
The event was sponsored by the PDC Scholarly Research and Creative Activities Committee, which promotes faculty and student engagement in scholarly and creative endeavors at the Palm Desert Campus.
