Lights, Camera, Pride! is a collaborative event between VPSA and the Queer and Transgender Resource Center (QTRC) that blends entertainment, education, and community building. The evening will feature a showing of the Mitchells vs. The Machines, an animated film celebrated for its LGBTQ+ representation through its main character, Katie.
To encourage early attendance and engagement, the night will begin with a Pride-themed Kahoot hosted by QTRC, offering fun trivia on LGTBQ+ culture, drag history, and pop culture, with a prize for the winner. QTRC will also provide a resource table, sharing campus support services, information on upcoming events, and inclusive materials for attendees.
Desserts and beverages will be provided, creating a welcoming space for students to connect and enjoy the evening together. This event fosters intersectionality by celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community while recognizing the multiple identities that students hold, including race, ethnicity, gender, and cultural background.
By combining film, interactive activities, and resource sharing, “Lights, Camera, Pride!” promotes inclusivity, belonging, and collaboration, aligning with CSUSB’s strategic goals for student success, diversity, equity, and campus engagement.
