9/16 - ALFSS Bienvenida - Hispanic Heritage Month Opening!

Time: 11:30AM - 1:30PM

Location: SMSU South - Event Center

The ALFSS Bienvenida is an annual welcome event at CSUSB that connects new and returning students, faculty, and staff to the Latino community while celebrating the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. Designed as a culturally affirming gathering, the Bienvenida provides an inclusive space to build community, foster belonging, and highlight campus resources, organizations, and opportunities for engagement that support student success. The event’s objectives are to welcome incoming and returning students into a supportive environment, foster stronger connections between students, faculty, and staff through networking and mentorship, showcase campus resources that contribute to academic achievement and holistic development, and celebrate Latino culture, identity, and contributions within higher education. With an expected attendance of approximately 80 participants from both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses, the target audience includes undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and administrators committed to strengthening solidarity and cultural pride. To ensure a meaningful experience, ALFSS respectfully requests Engagement Funding support to cover anticipated costs such as catering and refreshments, cultural décor and event materials, room reservations with audio/visual support, and promotional efforts through flyers and digital marketing. By centering Latino culture, highlighting faculty and staff contributions, and promoting engagement, the Bienvenida advances CSUSB’s mission of inclusivity, diversity, and student success.
