10/29 - Pabitin, Policies, & Power: Filipino American stories of migration and movement
Join us for pabitin--a traditional Filipino party game with prizes!

This Filipino American History Month (FAHM), we acknowledge the various ways people with Philippine ancestry have come to the place presently known as California--dating back centuries to October 18, 1587. Through storytelling and dialogue, we will unpack pabitin as a metaphor for the dynamic policies and manifestations of power that structure migration and movement. This educational talk will be facilitated by Dra. Erin Manalo-Pedro (co-founder and board member of the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), Orange County-Inland Empire chapter) and Dr. Michael Manalo-Pedro (associate professor of ethnic studies at Chaffey College).
