Economics major in University Bulletin
The Major has concentrations in mathematical economics, applied economics, and general economics.
General economics: a well-rounded that prepares you for careers in government, private sector, and non-profits. Take courses in intermediate micro and macro theory, government in the economy, industrial organization, political economy, and much more.
Applied economics: take courses that prepare you more directly for business: accounting, finance, as well as data-based courses like tools of economic analysis and Econometrics. Learn Excel, Python, and R.
Mathematical economics: Advanced mathematical courses in linear algebra and statistics prepare you for careers in finance or to go on to graduate school in economics or a closely related field. Econometrics is taken, and also mathematical methods for economics (Econ 3800) which applies single and multivariable calculus to economic analysis.

Political Economy major in University Bulletin
This major combines course work from Economics and other disciplines in a program that investigates the behavior of the economy and society using a broader and more inclusive framework than found in standard economics programs. Political Economy is ideal for students interested in careers in law, government, non-profits, and unions. It also allows students to investigate how gender, race, ethnicity, and class shape the world around us.
