A Joint Conference On

Palestine: October Seventh and Imperial Responses Through Genocide and Propaganda

NEW DATES: April 19 – 20, 2024 – San Bernardino, California, USA

Commemorating the 45th Anniversary of Arab Studies Quarterly

We welcome submissions focusing on Palestine: October Seventh and imperial responses through genocide and propaganda.
The conference theme will examine multiple subthemes, including:

- The impact of October Seventh on the governance of Arab states (including but not limited to political, economic, social, environmental, and health factors)
- The way liberal and neoliberal media shape "facts" and spotlight Hamas, potentially diverting attention from its integral connection to the Palestinian people
- The role of pro-resistance media in countering NATO propaganda
- The environmental and health impacts of using illegal weapons like white phosphorous, napalm, and bunker bombs
- The consequences of Zionist measures such as cutting off potable water, electricity, food, medical supplies, and employing heavy equipment for search operations post-destruction
- The US and the Zionist entity’s attempts to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza
- Role of literature in unveiling false imperialist and Zionist narratives while constructing narratives that align with the unfolding social reality on the ground
- Economic impacts of October Seventh on both the Zionist entity and West Asian/North African states

We welcome abstract submissions for individual papers and panel proposals from academics and media practitioners. Submission from scholars in the region as well as graduate students and early career postdoc scholars are highly encouraged.
