Campus Services

OSC wants to hear about your event, accomplishment or marketing needs. Fill our centralized Request Services form with as much detail as possible and we will evaluate your request and let you know how we can assist. Please only fill out the request form once for your event or marketing request. After the request had been filled out, you can follow up with our project coordinator anytime during the project to inquire about additional services or deliverables for that one project.

Each area of service in our office requires different lead time. Please read through the services we provide below and plan accordingly. The earlier we can discuss your project, the better. 

Marketing & Branding Services

OSC works to serve as an internal creative agency for CSUSB with an emphasis on the CSUSB brand, student recruitment and philanthropy efforts. We work with departments/units to ensure all design, messaging, etc. conform to university branding standards. When your images, actions and words work in synchronicity, you strengthen the CSUSB brand.

Graphic Design

High-quality marketing material are critical for creating a positive, progressive image for CSUSB. Our publications must meet the highest standards in writing, accuracy, design, illustration, photography and production. Our creative services team is a strategic unit dedicated to visual design across all mediums and platforms. The team produces undergraduate, graduate recruitment materials, university-wide marketing and promotional materials, advertisements for the brand awareness campaign, designs for the university’s external website and multimedia productions for university-wide strategic initiatives.

4-6 weeks of production time is ideal, depending on current production schedules.


The photos we take

OSC provides brand images for marketing and public relations purposes. In other words, they are taken for specific use for the media or in an official university publication, such as brochures, advertments, the CSUSB Magazine and high-profile pages on the CSUSB website. Take a look at our branded stock images on the University’s Photo Server.

Due to limited resources, we are unable to accommodate event photography. Instead, we pop in and out of events to catch a few highlights that can be used for media relations. Looking for more than that? Upon request, we can recommend an affordable freelance photographer.

When? Where? Why?

Every little bit of information helps. The more our staff knows beforehand – When is the photo shoot? Where? For what purpose? – the better they can prepare and provide you with the best images possible.

The earlier, the better

OSC manages a long list of scheduled photo shoots, with many scheduled weeks in advance. To ensure adequate preparation time, Please allow a minimum of 10 working day notice per request.

Video Services

OSC produces professional quality, branded marketing videos on behalf of the university. Our goal is to ensure videos communicate key messages on behalf of the university while increasing the profile and reputation of CSUSB.

Given the time it takes to write, produce and edit each video, client work is extremely limited. However, if you're interested in sharing a marketing video idea or pitching a CSUSB story, fill out our convenient Request Services form.

When we start a video project, scripts and storyboards are needed before production can start. We will also ask clients to manage logistical aspects for videos when several subjects need to be interviewed. Marketing video production time can take up to 8-14 weeks depending on current production schedules and availability of video subjects.

Media Relations and Publicity

Whether you’re a journalist who needs expert comment for a breaking story or a researcher with scientific findings that warrant news coverage, OSC can help. Our staff understands how the news business works and can provide a variety of services to meet your needs.

OSC is the primary media relations office for Cal State San Bernardino. The office is responsible for disseminating news about the university and responding to media inquiries. It is the place to send information and seek assistance in dealing with the news media.

It is vital that OSC staff be alerted to a potential news story as early as possible. In an emergency, we must act immediately. On other news, time is required to gather information and notify the news media and allow them to find space for the story.

The effective dissemination and management of news require planning, which in turn requires advance notice of newsworthy events. Sensitive information will be kept completely confidential.

We can help with:

  • Initiating news coverage
  • Responding to media requests for information, story ideas and faculty experts
  • Producing and distributing news about research activities, people and programs
  • Producing and distributing news and publicity photos
  • Arranging interviews and media visits for faculty and staff
  • Advising colleges, departments and individuals on media and public relations
  • Providing media training to prepare faculty and staff to deal more effectively with the media
  • Assisting in the preparation of publications
  • Calling and coordinating news conferences, when appropriate

Not all information is news. Each potential story will be evaluated by our staff to determine the interest among the media and other constituents.

How to get started?

Use our centralized Request Services form. Once writers have identified a story, our editor team will determine the best methods to disseminate the news. This may include:

  • A news release (print or broadcast)
  • Accompanying photographs, if warranted
  • Tip sheets to reporters and editors nationwide
  • Personal contact with reporters and editors
  • Accompanying faculty or staff to professional meetings or interviews
  • A news conference
  • A faculty – or staff-written opinion piece
