As a campus social hub, the SMSU assists in the retention and development of students, while encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural pluralism, gender equity, and ethnic diversity.

In 2016, the Coyotes celebrated their 25th anniversary of becoming a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) – the preeminent Division II athletic conference in the country boasting 152 NCAA national championships and in 2014-15, celebrated their first 30 years of athletics.

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art opened its doors to the public in the fall of 1996. Since then, it has grown to be one of the major cultural centers in the region. In 2008, RAFFMA was granted accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition an American museum can achieve, recognizing our continuing commitment to excellence.
