Internships
Internships help students without public sector experience gain that experience and take the first step towards getting a public sector job. Besides your own learning, internships allow an employer to get to know you and gives you an advantage in applying for future jobs. Internships are optional for undergraduates and required for MPA students who do not already have experience.
If you haven't had employment experience in the public sector, an internship will be required for the MPA program. The internship class is a CR/NC course that does NOT count as an MPA elective. Please contact Jessica Chavez in JB 211 for more information.
An internship can be a valuable, career developing experience. To begin, review the JHBC Internship page. To get credit for an internship, you must register for PA 5753 (undergrad) or ADMN 6750 (graduate). Jessica will help you with questions you may have regarding the internship. The internship itself must be officially approved by the Public Administration Department Chair.
