Michael Hawkins graduated from UCLA in 2008 with a Ph.D. in U.S. History. His dissertation, Co-Producing the Postcolonial: U.S.-Philippine Cinematic Relations, 1946-1986, examines cinema as a field of representation and interaction among Filipinos and Americans in the postcolonial period. His research interests include U.S.-Philippine History, Philippine History, 20th U.S. History, and the History of American Popular Culture. Dr. Hawkins began teaching at CSUSB in 2011 and offers a variety of courses in U.S. History.
