Bio

Dr. Essia Hamouda is an Associate Professor of Information and Decision Sciences at California State University, San Bernardino. She is the SAP coordinator at the JHBC. Since graduating with a Ph.D. in Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California Riverside, she held a postdoctoral fellow at INRIA France, a faculty at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at University of California-Riverside, and a faculty at the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Chico State University.

Dr. Hamouda has taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses in Information Systems and Technology, Business Analytics, and Supply Chain Management at California State University, San Bernardino. Her great passion towards empowering and attracting students and especially women to the technical field, led her to founding the Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) chapter at CSUSB in 2018.

She is the recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Service Award and 2021 Outstanding Teaching Award, of the College of Business at California State University, San Bernardino. She is also the recipient of two external grants - a NIH grant and a USDA grant (Project DA-FANH), which main objectives is to enrich the quality of education and research in under-represented communities.

Dr. Hamouda’s research interests include resource optimization in sensor networks, network security, data driven decision making, and system performance evaluation with interest in applying analytical modeling techniques to practical problems in computer systems and operations management. She has authored many articles in prestigious journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of Stochastic Analysis and Applications and the International Journal of Communication Systems. She has presented her research in national and international conferences and has been member of steering and program committees of many international conferences. She has served on Editorial Boards of numerous journals, both as a member and as a reviewer.

She has hosted numerous workshops in data analytics and programming at CSUSB. She is the coordinator of the Data Analytics Working Group.
