Individual Faculty Support and Guidance

To provide individual faculty support and guidance, the Faculty Mentoring Program Director:

  • Responds to RPT-related questions and concerns.
  • Provides feedback on Faculty Activity Reports (FARs).
  • Advises on how to strategically present teaching, research, and service in RPT narratives.
  • Reviews RPT evaluations, interpret reviewer comments, and advise on whether a rebuttal may be warranted.
  • Supports faculty in drafting rebuttals and framing responses effectively.
  • Listens to and help contextualize workload-related concerns, including whether expectations are appropriate for a faculty member’s rank and responsibilities.
  • Helps faculty prioritize and plan research, teaching, and service activities aligned with RPT expectations.
  • Assists faculty in identifying resources for addressing classroom challenges, including supporting students who are disruptive or who may need additional academic or mental health support.
  • Provides guidance on navigating difficult conversations with chairs, colleagues, or students.
  • Connects faculty with mentors within the university community upon request.
