Thursday: ALFSS hosts Tamal Award and Scholarship Recognition Luncheon
The second Tamal Award and Scholarship Recognition is set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Santos Manuel Student Union South Event Center. Tickets are $30 per person, with proceeds going towards scholarships.
Several PDC faculty and alumni were featured in the program, delivering podium and poster presentations.
Highlights of the event, hosted by the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration, were the donor address from Debbie Brown, wife of the late Jack H. Brown, philanthropist and founder of Stater Bros. Markets, and the heartfelt address by scholarship recipient Jennifer Cornejo. “Scholarships are so much more than financial gifts,” Cornejo said. “They represent opportunity, hope, potential, passion and a pathway for people like me.”
“Rooted in the Region, Driven by Purpose: Leveling the Playing Field for Students at California State University, San Bernardino,” by Kelly Campbell, CSUSB vice provost, is one of six case studies included in in “Transformation Powered by the ITA,” compiled by the Gardner Institute, a leading national student success nonprofit organization.
