Cal State San Bernardino helped shape national conversations on higher education leadership and resilience at the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences (CCAS) 60th Annual Meeting in St. Louis. Sastry Pantula, dean of the College of Natural Sciences, led a panel discussion focused on how academic leaders can navigate change and thrive in an ever-evolving higher education landscape.

The CNS Science Carnival featured interactive exhibits, live science demonstrations, and hands-on experiments led by CSUSB faculty, staff and students.

Cal State San Bernardino’s College of Natural Sciences (CNS) hosted its fall CNS Science Carnival, bringing together approximately 500 Inland Empire K-6 students, educators and parents for an immersive day of hands-on learning and exploration.

The Fall Open House and Donuts with the Dean event, scheduled for Sept. 11, was designed to support students on their educational and professional journeys at CSUSB. Donuts will be provided in the morning, adding a sweet start to a day focused on building community and preparing for academic success.

Sarah Grebenok, a senior geology major, was awarded the highly competitive Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship from the U.S. Department of Defense, making her the first CSUSB student to receive this national STEM honor.

Vicky Lopez, a first-generation CSUSB student with a background in firefighting, is using their engineering skills to develop innovative technologies that improve wildfire response. With support from CSUSB faculty, including Fadi Muheidat, associate professor of computer science, they have earned prestigious internships and awards, and now lookahead to pursuing a graduate degree.

The event offered a day of hands-on activities and interactive experiences designed to spark curiosity and inspire a lifelong love of science.

The CNS Science Carnival will feature interactive booths, laboratory tours and partial campus tours, all focused on making science fun, engaging and accessible.
