The CSUSB College of Natural Sciences will present a Coyote Hour talk on the Nobel Prize winners and their scientific discoveries, noon Thursday, Nov. 18.
Tony Thurmond, state superintendent of public instruction, will give the afternoon keynote address at “Navigating K-12 Education in the Midst of Uncertainties,” set to take place from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Bernardino. Registration is open.

“The new school designation will raise our status and may offer greater appeal to federal agencies, foundations, and philanthropic organizations seeking to support university and community partnerships focused on improving relationships and developing innovative strategies to address public safety concerns,” said Andrea Schoepfer, the school’s director.
CSUSB will offer Winter Intersession courses starting in December to help students who want to accelerate their progress toward graduation.
Two separate seminars will take place: “Individual Development Plan (IDP) for Undergraduate Students” on Thursday, Oct. 21, and a training workshop for a select group of faculty on Friday, Oct. 22. They are the inaugural events that are part of the College of Natural Sciences’ U.S. Department of Education grant, “PATHS: Proactive Approaches for Training Hispanics in STEM.”
The five-year grant, “Proactive Approaches for Training Hispanics (PATHS) in STEM,” will help increase graduation rates and prepare students for graduate and professional schools.
Shanthi Srinivas fills the position previously held by Lawrence C. Rose, who served as dean of the college for the past 10 years and recently retired.
Lawrence Rose, dean of the CSUSB Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration, will retire at the end of July, capping a 36-year career in higher education.
