
CSUSB supports student success through participation in a cost-saving program for textbooks and course materials through Affordable Learning Solutions.

The “Courts and Corrections” colloquium, part of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences ongoing series, will take place at noon Thursday, Feb. 15, in SBS-129.

Meredith Conroy (political science) was interviewed for an article about Democrats’ strategy using the abortion issues to mobilize voters, and Brian Levin (criminal justice, emeritus) commented for an article about a new survey that points to a rise in antisemitism.

The program provides free healthcare services to homeless, unsheltered and vulnerable people in the Coachella Valley, as well as engages CSUSB Palm Desert Campus nursing students at all degree levels in clinical healthcare activities.

Thomas Shakespeare, a social scientist and bioethicist, will present “When Disability Is the Norm, Not the Exception,” when the new lecture series debuts on Zoom. Registration is required and can be done online.

CSUSB is part of a collaborative effort to advance data science education and create new pathways. A $1.275 grant from the California Learning Lab funds the partnership between CSUSB and seven higher education institutions.

Walker Beverly is the founder of Advancing Steps, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping formerly incarcerated individuals reintegrate into society.

The Black Faculty, Staff and Student Association will host the 11th annual Pioneer Breakfast, “A Tapestry of Time: Celebrating Our Enduring Legacy,” on Friday, Feb. 23.

Saree Makdisi, professor and chair of the English department at UCLA, will present “The Meaning of Gaza,” at the second annual Edward Said Endowed Lecture, set for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at Cal State San Bernardino.

The Symposium on Teaching and Learning (SoTL): RECONNECT will take place in-person on Feb. 23-24 on the CSUSB campus, with virtual sessions scheduled for March 1. The in-person gathering will be the first since 2019.

Presented by The Phoenix of Gaza XR Team, with support from the Extended REALity for Learning (xREAL) Lab at CSUSB, the virtual event will take place at the Santos Manuel Student Union North on Monday, Feb. 12, and at the Faculty Center for Excellence, Pfau Library, on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
