Meredith Conroy, CSUSB professor of political science, wrote, “When Graham Platner’s Senate campaign collapsed this month, the discussion that followed wasn’t really about Platner. It was about what kind of party the Democrats want to be.
“ICYMI: Platner rode an anti-establishment, working-class-populist lane to a landslide primary win in Maine on June 9, survived a run of controversies — a resurfaced Nazi symbol tattoo, old Reddit comments, reports of infidelity — and then lost his endorsements in a matter of hours on July 8, when a woman he’d previously dated came forward alleging he’d sexually assaulted her in 2021. He withdrew days later.”
San Bernardino Symphony invites students to audition for its youth orchestras

Lucy Lewis, professor of violin and viola and director of orchestral studies at Cal State San Bernardino who directs the San Bernardino Symphony Youth Orchestra program, talked about the upcoming auditions for the youth orchestra and the Overture Orchestra for middle school students. Auditions for the 2026-27 season begin on Aug. 19.

Lucy Lewis, director of the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra’s youth orchestra program and orchestral studies as Cal State San Bernardino, was interviewed about the upcoming auditions for two youth ensembles for the 2026 season. “We are exceptionally proud of our Inland Empire youth,” Lewis said. “Having completed our first full year of operating two youth orchestras, we have seen firsthand how this creative space challenges and inspires motivated young musicians to the highest standards of music-making and professionalism. We are excited to welcome returning and new talent into this nurturing environment.”
