After a 55-hour closure from Feb. 27 to early March 2, the new diverging diamond interchange at University Parkway and Interstate 215 is now open to commuters. The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority has posted a video (above) to help drivers navigate the new interchange.
However, since construction is not yet complete, students, faculty and staff should still allow for extra travel time, or consider alternate routes, to reach Cal State San Bernardino and destinations in the area. Construction is expected to continue through April.
Construction activities may include pavement work, traffic shifts, and nighttime lane and ramp closures. Motorists are urged to use caution throughout the corridor, where workers and heavy equipment will be present.
Regular construction alerts will be available to inform commuters about detours and closures, including when and where they will occur.

The work is being done by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority and the city of San Bernardino, in cooperation with Caltrans District 8, and is aimed at decreasing traffic congestion, reducing delays and improving freeway access to Interstate 215 at University Parkway.
