CSUSB professor discusses House GOP’s disarray

Meredith Conroy, CSUSB associate professor of political science, was quoted in an article about Florida Republican congressman Matt Gaetz and his role in the chaos in the U.S. House of Representatives, the ouster of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and his relationship with former President Donald Trump. “The Freedom Caucus wing is made up of many junior members who were motived to run in Trump’s image, and in this manner, they take on his general approach, which is to create chaos and media spectacle,” Conroy told Al Jazeera in an email. “There are some members in the Freedom Caucus who pre-date Trump, but his election has emboldened them to also reject real governing.”

Jacob Jones (psychology) led a team of researchers who noted an “underrepresentation of Latinxs in (Parkinson’s disease) research as most of the research consists of non-Latinx white participants. The current study investigates longitudinal differences in health disparities among Latinx and White non-Latinx individuals living with (Parkinson’s disease). As a second aim, we examined the associations between perceived discrimination in healthcare and outcomes from aim 1.”
