A mobile eye clinic from Western University of Health Sciences (WUHS) in partnership with the Cal State San Bernardino Student Health Center (SHC) will be at the CSUSB campus on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. to provide reduced-cost optometry services by appointment to students.

The visit of the optometry mobile recreational vehicle is led by CSUSB alumnus Dr. Bennett McAllister, ’78, who earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and was named Alumnus of the Year in 1985 by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. McAllister serves as an associate professor at the WUHS College of Optometry.

Appointments are required for an eye exam. To make an appointment for an eye exam, call the CSUSB Student Health Center at (909) 537-5241 . The mobile eye clinic will be parked behind the Student Health Center on campus.

Once a month McAllister and his graduate students will visit the CSUSB campus as part of a community partnership between WUHS and the Student Health Center, originally spearheaded by Dr. Richelle Marracino, SHC medical chief of staff, as the center continues to seek ways to increase its range of services to students. Other eye clinics are scheduled for next year on Jan. 18, Feb. 15 and March 15.

Under the leadership of SHC executive director, Beth Jaworski, and the support team, the partnership is also planning dental clinics in the near future, along with upcoming clinics to the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus.
