Cal State San Bernardino’s Chinese Student Association has for decades welcomed the Chinese New Year with a campus-wide celebration, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the university to stop face-to-face classroom instruction and events on campus last March and move to virtual and online classes and events.

Yet the celebration goes on, with the CSA putting together a video to welcome and celebrate the Year of the Ox.

In an email to the campus, CSA advisors and Student Affairs administrators wrote: “Most of our students from China are in China and they have put together a video montage, a compilation of performances by themselves and footage from other sources that showcase elements of Chinese culture. (Our plan to do a Zoom event was thwarted due to the unreliable cyber bridge over the Pacific.)”

The Chinese New Year will be observed today, Friday, Feb. 12, through Feb. 26.
