An online workshop for the formerly incarcerated to help them apply for jobs and prepare for job interviews will take place on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 11 a.m.-noon.

The Rehabilitative Packet Workshop is being organized by the Inland Empire Fair Chance Coalition, Project Rebound and Club Rebound at Cal State San Bernardino, the university’s School of Social Work and Osher Adult Re-Entry Center, and other community partners.

The workshop is designed to help participants create a rehabilitative packet to give to employers who take back a conditional job offer based on the results of a background check. Employers must inform you of your five-day window to provide proof of rehabilitation before you are denied the position.

Participants will learn to respond in a timely manner by attending the workshop and creating a digital file that will contain:

  • Your personal statement;
  • Letters of recommendation attesting to your character;
  • Proof of various accomplishments; and
  • Other materials specific to your rehabilitation.

Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session and work directly with service providers to learn how to write a personal statement and obtain letters of recommendation.
