It was a time for festivities as the Veterans Success Center and the Air Force ROTC Det. 002 at Cal State San Bernardino co-hosted a celebration honoring the United States Air Force’s 70th birthday recently.

The Oct. 4 celebration featured a number of speakers, including Air Force ROTC Cadet and CSUSB student Cathleen Runde, who served as master of ceremonies and gave the closing remarks.

Welcoming remarks were given by Paz Oliverez, vice president of the university’s Student Affairs with the keynote address given by U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Benjamin T. Smith, commander, AFROTC Det 002 and chair of the university’s Department of Aerospace Studies.

The event, which was held in the lawn next to the Coyote Bookstore, also featured the singing of the Air Force Song and a cake-cutting ceremony.
