The Student African American Sisterhood (SAAS) at Cal State San Bernardino presents “Succeeding with Passion,” featuring motivational speaker Stephanie Walton, author of the book “Succeeding with Passion: Simple Strategies to Drive Your Life, Relationships, And Career Forward,” on Monday, Nov. 19, 6-8 p.m. in the Santos Manuel Student Union. The event is free and open to the public. Parking at CSUSB is $6. Through her personal experiences, Walton has created the tools that helped her overcome obstacles like homelessness in her youth and dysfunctional family relationships. She has also learned how to advance in corporate America and pursue her passion for helping others. In her book, Walton shares the ways to turn failures into success. According to her website, “Succeeding with Passion” helps its readers become curious about possibilities in life; be self-aware of strengths and weaknesses; eliminate judgmental thinking; turn fear into courage; forgive others and yourself; thrive in the face of failure; remove stress; and create a vision, build a strategy and execute a plan. For accommodations and more information about the “Succeeding with Passion” event, please contact Twillea Evans-Carthen, lecturer of public administration and ombuds officer, at (909) 537-3103. About SAASSAAS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to unifying African-American women through the development of a sisterhood of distinction. SAAS seeks to positively impact the lives of its membership through creating supportive networks among African-American females, encouraging and assisting with personal and professional development, and providing strategies for educational attainment and success throughout the collegiate experience and beyond.  To learn more about the Student African American Sisterhood, visit the SAAS website.
