Organizations

Association of American Geographers (AAG)

Is the flagship organization for geographers. It publishes two major journals and organizes an annual meeting. It is also a good resource page for careers in Geography and ES. Students are welcome to join.

Association of Pacific Coast Geographers (APCG)

Is a regional organization for geographers covering the Pacific coast of the U.S. and Canada. It publishes a journal and its annual meetings are small and intimate.

California Geographical Society (CGS)

Is the oldest statewide organization devoted to enhancing the understanding of geography as well as promoting interaction amongst academic and applied geographers, as well as members of the general public who share an interest in geography.

California Geographic Information Association (CGIA)

Is a non-profit, state-wide organization that supports the use, acquisition, exchange, and management of high-quality geographic information in the State of California among all interested agencies, institutions, companies, and individuals.

National Geographic Society

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

As an unbiased, multi-disciplinary science organization that focuses on biology, geography, geology, geospatial information, and water, we are dedicated to the timely, relevant, and impartial study of the landscape, our natural resources, and the natural hazards that threaten us.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

Is a government organization that supplies environmental information, environmental stewardship services, and applied scientific research on ecosystems, climate, weather, and water.

U.S. Census

Is the leading source of quality data about the nation's people and economy.

The World

Is a page with stories from all over the world. It is a co-production of the BBC World Service, Public Radio International (PRI) and WGBH Boston.
