Not sure where to start? The Career Center can help!
The CSUSB Career Center helps students explore internships, part-time jobs and career opportunities that align with their goals. Students can receive support with resumes, cover letters, interview preparation and job-search strategies to help build confidence and stand out to employers. Whether students are looking for their first job or preparing for a future career, the Career Center can help them take the next step.
Are all student employment opportunities work-study?
Not all student employment opportunities require work-study eligibility. While some positions are part of the federal work-study program for students who qualify through financial aid, many on-campus and off-campus jobs are open to all students. This gives students a wide range of opportunities to earn income, build experience and develop career-ready skills while attending CSUSB.

FAQs for Student Employment

- Have at least $2,000 in federal financial need.
- Be enrolled in at least 6 units as an undergraduate student or 3 units as a graduate student.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
- Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or eligible noncitizen.

Federal Work-Study funding is limited, so meeting these requirements doesn't guarantee you'll receive an award or a job. Check your financial aid offer in MyCoyote to see if you've been awarded Federal Work-Study.
You can work up to 20 hours per week while attending classes. If you have both a Federal Work-Study job and another student job at CSUSB, your combined hours cannot exceed 20 hours per week.
You can hold only one Federal Work-Study position at a time. Your work schedule will also depend on your class schedule, the amount of your work-study award and your employer's needs. You cannot work during scheduled class times.
You may still have opportunities to work while attending CSUSB! Many campus student jobs don't require Federal Work-Study eligibility.
You can explore Student Assistant positions and other employment opportunities through CSUSB's Career Center. If you're eligible to work in the United States, you may qualify for positions that aren't funded through Federal Work-Study.
If you don't qualify for federal financial aid, you may also be eligible for state financial aid through the California Dream Act, depending on your circumstances.
