Morro Bay Camp and Kayak - SBC

Join CSUSB Adventure for a three-day coastal camping adventure in Morro Bay! Participants will kayak through the scenic waters of Morro Bay, explore the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History, hike along the coast, and enjoy an evening campfire with s’mores. On Sunday, we will hike through beautiful Montaña de Oro State Park before relaxing at Pismo Beach and stopping for the famous Old West Cinnamon Rolls.

Itinerary
Day 1: Friday
Let’s get ready for an adventure in Morro Bay! We will meet at the Adventure Center at 10:00 a.m., gather any last-minute gear, and depart San Bernardino at 11:00 a.m. We will stop for lunch along the way, which is not provided.

After arriving at Morro Bay State Park, we will set up camp and settle in. We will then explore the marina area, take a short walk along the Marina Peninsula Trail, and enjoy views of the estuary and Morro Rock. Depending on our arrival time, we may visit the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History before it closes. We will end the evening with dinner and relaxing around camp.

Day 2: Saturday
We will rise and shine at 7:00 a.m. and begin kayaking at 8:00 a.m. Don’t worry if you have never kayaked before, we welcome first-time kayakers! Before getting on the water, our instructors will provide basic kayaking instruction and safety information. After enjoying several hours on the water and taking in the scenery of Morro Bay, we will have lunch and get cleaned up. In the afternoon, we will visit the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History and take a scenic hike near the estuary and Morro Rock. We will end the day around a campfire with s’mores before heading to bed.

Day 3: Sunday
The adventure will continue on Sunday with breakfast at camp before packing up the van. We will travel to Montaña de Oro State Park for a morning hike along the scenic coastal trails. The hike will include beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, rugged cliffs, Spooner’s Cove, and the surrounding hills. Participants should be prepared for uneven terrain and changing coastal weather. After hiking, we will have lunch and continue to Pismo Beach for a final stroll along the coast. We will stop for the famous Old West Cinnamon Rolls before beginning our return trip to San Bernardino.

6 meals are included, starting with dinner on day 1 (2 breakfast, 2 lunch, and 2 dinner)
2 meals are not included (1 lunch and 1 dinner). Bring money.

Hygiene and Comfort
We will be staying in reserved campsites. The campsites are within close proximity to drinking water, flush toilets and there are showers for a fee. You will have the option to share a tent with one or two people or sleep out under the cover of the stars. Light weight tents, warm synthetic sleeping bags, foam pads and ground tarps will be provided to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. The ground consists of soft and hard soil.
