The CAFS Department has two major concentrations to choose from: Early Childhood Development and Child and Adolescent Development. The Early Childhood Development concentration focuses on children age birth through eight and the Child and Adolescent Development concentration focuses on children from age eight to early adulthood. Both are great options to enter careers focused on children and families including education, special education, social work, counseling, school psychology, child life, and youth services.
Students in both concentrations are required to complete a set of core courses which provide information about children and families and increase skills in writing, research, critical thinking, and understanding our diverse world.
In addition, students in each concentration complete a set of courses specific to their selected concentration which provide the content listed above along with practical skills that can be used directly with children and families.
