Former ASI athletics representative and star goalkeeper Carly Luna '21 credits CSUSB for providing her with the academic and athletic support she needed to thrive in both women's soccer and her chosen major of communication with a concentration in film studies. As one of 10 national semifinalists for the 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars, Carly had to maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 and be active on campus or in her community, which was no hard feat for her, having made the Dean's List five times and being a repeat manager of American Red Cross blood drives.
