CSUSB Career Center Connects Students with Industry Opportunities at Tech Lunch and Learn
The CSUSB Career Center recently hosted its Tech Lunch and Learn, bringing together 69 students and representatives from leading employers and organizations for an afternoon focused on career exploration, networking and employment opportunities.
The event reached maximum capacity, reflecting strong student interest in connecting directly with professionals in technology and related industries. To meet the demand, the Career Center team accommodated additional students, ensuring more participants had the opportunity to engage with employers and learn about potential career pathways.
Representatives from Tesla, Caltrans, Big Brothers Big Sisters, San Bernardino County, the U.S. Navy and the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation participated in the event. Students learned about each organization, explored current employment opportunities and gained insight into the skills employers are seeking in prospective candidates.
A key component of the Tech Lunch and Learn was providing students with opportunities to move beyond career exploration and take actionable next steps. Employers shared information about current job openings, allowing interested students to learn more about positions, ask questions and, in some cases, apply for opportunities during the event.
Students identified direct interaction with employers as one of the event's most valuable experiences. One student in his final semester shared that he had struggled to connect with employers seeking software engineers and appreciated the opportunity to meet several organizations with relevant career opportunities.
The event also resulted in new professional development opportunities for students. Following the Tech Lunch and Learn, six students enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters' workplace mentoring program, creating an additional pathway for students to receive professional guidance and build meaningful industry connections.
The Tech Lunch and Learn reflects the CSUSB Career Center's ongoing commitment to preparing students for life after graduation by connecting them with employers, career resources and professional development opportunities.
Through events like these, students can expand their professional networks, gain a stronger understanding of employer expectations and identify opportunities that align with their academic and career goals.
