San Bernardino, California — In recognition of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, The Obershaw DEN at California State University, San Bernardino reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students’ basic needs by hosting a series of initiatives focused on food access, community connection, and student well-being.

On November 21, The Obershaw DEN hosted a Turkey Distribution, serving a total of 150 CSUSB students by providing turkeys to help support meals during the holiday season. In addition, the DEN organized a Resource Fair, where students were able to shop for free groceries, connect with campus and community resources, and enjoy a free holiday meal in a welcoming and supportive environment.

These efforts underscore CSUSB’s dedication to addressing food insecurity and supporting students who may be experiencing housing and food instability. Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week serves as an important opportunity to raise awareness around these challenges while highlighting campus programs designed to promote student success.

The Obershaw DEN continues to serve as a vital resource for students by offering food assistance, basic needs support, and referrals throughout the academic year. Through ongoing programming and partnerships, the DEN plays a key role in ensuring students feel supported, nourished, and empowered to thrive academically and personally.
