CSUSB offers two graduate-level pathways in Speech-Language Pathology: the Speech-Language Pathology Master’s Preparatory Certificate and the Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. The preparatory certificate provides foundational coursework for students who hold a bachelor’s degree outside of communication sciences and disorders, while the M.A. program provides the academic and clinical preparation required for professional practice as a speech-language pathologist.
Program Structure
The SLP Master’s Preparatory Certificate is a cohort-based, four-semester program designed to be completed over two academic years. Courses are offered in a prescribed sequence and build upon one another; therefore, the program generally cannot be completed on an accelerated or part-time schedule.
The M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology is a full-time, intensive, in-person program. Students are admitted as a cohort for the fall term and complete academic coursework and supervised clinical experiences in a carefully sequenced curriculum. Due to the program’s course and clinical requirements, students should expect a substantial weekly time commitment, and part-time or remote completion is not available.
