Public Speaking Experience:

With a background in psychology, I’m fascinated by how our thoughts, emotions, and perceptions shape the way we communicate. Through classroom presentations, workshops, peer mentoring, and my experience as a Graduate Teaching Associate, I’ve learned how to help others not just speak, but connect with themselves and their audience. Teaching students has given me the opportunity to guide them in building confidence, refining their delivery, and finding their own voice. I believe public speaking is an opportunity to express who we are, not just what we know.

Why I work for the Speaking Center at JHBC:

I work at the Speaking Center because I love helping students discover their voice and gain confidence. By combining my knowledge of psychology with public speaking strategies, I guide students in managing nerves, embracing their unique style, and sharing their ideas in ways that feel authentic and impactful.

My Consultant Philosophy:

I believe growth in public speaking starts with understanding yourself. When students learn to recognize and manage their thoughts and feelings, they can communicate more confidently and authentically. I aim to create a supportive environment where every student feels encouraged to take risks, celebrate progress, and find strength in their own voice. As Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” This reminds me that confidence and growth come from self-awareness and self-acceptance.
