Is there a fee to attend the CNS Science Carnival?

The CNS Science Carnival is a free community event sponsored by the College of Natural Sciences and its community partners.

Where do I park and how much does parking cost?

Free parking is available on the CSUSB campus.

What can I expect as a parent?

Your child(ren) will have the opportunity to see and engage in different science activities and demonstrations. Some of the favorite activities include marshmallow shooters, the self-carving pumpkin, liquid nitrogen frozen treats, the Ekho sonar experience, and hands-on inflating pig's lungs. All activities are run by volunteers, including CSUSB students and faculty members and community members.

What should I bring?

We suggest dressing in layers and bringing water, as plans often change once your child dives into all the exciting activities—they’ll likely want to stay longer than expected! Throughout the evening, kids will be busy creating hands-on STEM projects like slime, a motor, lip balm, or hair gel. To make it easier to carry these fun creations, consider bringing a "goodie" bag. Most importantly, don’t forget to bring along your curiosity and enthusiasm!

Can I bring my students for a field trip?

Absolutely! Please register for the event and indicate that you will be bringing a bus of students in the registration form so we can provide details regarding unloading of students and a parking location for the bus. A teacher or chaperone to student ratio of 1:10 is highly encouraged.
